Music Event Poster Design
In the packaging design industry I have experienced being responsible for creating multiple ideas at once and executing all of them in a tight timeline to give the client options to choose from. I utilize my ability to work in many different styles during times like those to give the client a range. This helps clients who are unsure of what they want be able to see options to help form their vision.
Below are three different music posters created for the same event.
None of the below were released as shown as this was just a round 1. I did not execute the logo or type.
Electric Night
This design combines location and event. There are landmarks iconic to Fort Collins that makes the location of this event unique and appealing. There are also musical aspects such as instruments and speakers to get people excited about the live music. Lastly there are birds and plants interacting with the scene to bring a bit of surrealism and adding some magic.
The dark electric scheme is my preferred colorway. It reflects how the event goes into the evening and feels more exciting.
Family Fun
This design is geared towards kids, families and young adults. We wanted it to feel vibrant and youthful but not too childish so it could appeal to older kids and parents as well.
The purple is my preferred colorway. It brings the most fun and is easier on the eyes.
Illustration
I built the illustration so it could also break into fun individual character assets for further branding needs.
I wanted the style to be bold and fun. I chose to create inclusive whimsical characters having fun and enjoying music to the max.
The individual characters come together for the final poster illustration. This evokes the sense of a band playing and an overall party anyone would love to join.
I used a simple white line which flows through the illustration connecting the instruments and characters to each other keeping your eye exploring the piece and adding dynamism.
I added small illustrations around the characters such as a drink because the show offers fun beverages, more instrument related images and the horsetooth mountains as a nod to Fort Collins where this event takes place.
Day and Night
This poster celebrates every aspect of this event. It features the concert, music, instruments and the night sky evoking a sense of gathering, celebration and partying. On the flip side we have beautiful Fort Collins where the event takes place. The iconic horsetooth mountain range and bright sunny blue skies.
The orange and green colorway would be my preferred option. The name of the event has the most prominence and the yellow and orange makes the daytime section feel warm and bright.
It’s Reversible
This poster is unique as it would have two versions printed. Depending on which poster you see or receive there is a different highlight of the event in focus.
In one version the concert venue is more prominent focussing on the music. In the other version the unique landscape of Fort Collins is highlighted.
Why make the illustration reversible?
It makes the poster experience dynamic and fresh adding dimension to the project. It plays with the idea of how hard it is to choose whether the location or the music is more exciting.
Both versions unite the landscape and the concert radiating joy and celebration of the event.
